What a Discover statement looks like

ColumnsTrans Date · Post Date · Description · Amount · Category

Discover is the only major issuer that prints a spending category on each line — Gas, Restaurants, Merchandise — because its cashback programme depends on it. That makes its statements the most useful of the group once converted, since the categorisation is already done for you.

What to check afterwards

The category column sits at the far right and is short, so it can be mistaken for part of the amount column. Check a row where the category is a single word: if it landed next to the figure, the two columns merged.

Card statements carry no running balance, so the arithmetic check that verifies a bank statement cannot run here —why that matters. On scans and how nothing is uploaded: read the details.
