What a Chase statement looks like

ColumnsDate of Transaction · Merchant Name or Transaction Description · $ Amount
DatesOne per transaction
SectionsPayments and Other Credits · Purchase · Fees Charged · Interest Charged

Chase card statements group everything under section headings, and each heading sits alone on its line with no amount. Those headings are structure, not transactions — a converter that keeps them as rows leaves you with four blank-amount lines scattered through the file.

What to check afterwards

Payments and credits are printed with a minus sign inside the same amount column as purchases. If you sum that column expecting a spend total, the payments cancel out part of it. Filter to the Purchase section before totalling.

Card statements carry no running balance, so the arithmetic check that verifies a bank statement cannot run here —why that matters. On scans and how nothing is uploaded: read the details.
